This family wanted a more useful, contemporary home without undertaking a complete gut renovation. The opportunity was to see what existing spaces could become.

An underused area near the staircase became a striking new bathroom, while another bathroom received a considered refresh. The basement was reworked to include practical storage, an office, a live-in nanny suite and a brighter laundry area.

The kitchen was refreshed rather than entirely replaced. Updates to the second-storey deck, mechanical systems and exterior helped the home work better for the family as a whole.

Over approximately five months, selective interventions created a home that feels more complete, with a balance of traditional character and contemporary detail.
